Uprooted Standards
Today's filtered standards have grown so distorted that they no longer resemble real human beauty at all. In Uprooted Standards, I wanted to capture the feeling of being bent toward this new ideal, so I painted myself with my neck arched back, caught between discomfort and resistance. Using clay, I left some of the sculpted 3-D flowers and droplets chrome to hint at the technology slowly turning us into something less than human.
